Screening Project:
This project was completed in my ECED 417 - Assessment in Early Childhood Education class. I chose a student who was below grade level in reading and performed a variety of assessments with her. I learned about how to administer assessments and how to analyze the results of such assessments. This project taught me about the importance of assessment and of using assessment to inform instruction.

Multicultural Literacy Collection:
In education there should always be multicultural resources available for teachers to utilize in their classroom. In order to create a true united and positive classroom community, every child in the classroom has to feel comfortable and accepted. For this project, I chose the theme of tradition and found a variety of resources that supported the theme while representing a variety of cultures and individuals. This project taught me about how many resources are available for teachers to use in their classroom, and how any unit of study can be supported with multicultural resources. I also learned about resources other than books that can be used, for example videos and music.

Academic Achievement Award:
This spring I was honored to receive this academic award for my achievements over the past two years. This award demonstrates my commitment to the early childhood field and how the work I have accomplished has been recognized. All of the education I have received over my career at the Universities at Shady Grove has prepared me becoming the best teacher I can possibly be.
